Dear member of SGBGJ,
A short Newsletter before
the summer break......
As you probably all know, Jeddah in general and SGBG in particular is
going to loose an outstanding member of the expatriate community and -
concerning SGBG - the most active member of the Board : I am
speaking of the imminent departure of the German Consul General, Dr.
Hubert Lang and his wife Michèle.
Dr. Lang is appointed as the new ambassador of Germany to Bahrain and
we all wish him and Michèle fruitful and pleasant years in
Manama.
On behalf of the Saudi German Business
Group of Jeddah, I would like to thank Dr. Lang and Michèle very
warmly for their unwavering support of SGBG:
Dr. Lang brought in
a lot
of new ideas for SGBG's activities,
he invited eminent
speakers for lecture evenings and/or well known musicians for concerts,
he organised most events together with the coordinator,
and most of
all he and his wife provided the location for most of SGBG's
functions by opening their house or their beautiful garden to us.
Herzlichen Dank und alles Gute für die Zukunft.
I take this opportunity to wish you all a
pleasant summer vacation and hope to see you in September back in
Jeddah.

Iftar in the Crowne
Plaza Hotel, 23rd of September 2007, 6.00 p.m.
The first
event after the summer break is already planned and scheduled : SGBG
offers to all its members and their spouses/husbands a sumptuous Iftar in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
As usual you
will receive a detailed invitation during the first days of September.
Ramadan
Nights (not an SGBG event),
Hilton Hotel, 19th-20th of September 2007, 10.00 p.m. Tickets 50 SR.
I have been asked
to inform our members about this event organised by 'al-Jamiyya al
Khairiyya'. The organisers intend to show the public how Ramadan
is celebrated in different Muslim countries.

Garden

Unfortunately I was unable to attend this
function being still in Europe, but according to many participants this
evening proved to be a huge success with more than a hundred people
attending and enjoying excellent food and friendly conversations.
Members'
Corner:
Reminder: Unfortunately we
still have a few people having sent in their application form to become
a member but having actually forgotten to pay the membership fee.
Unfortunately these persons cannot be considered as fully fledged
members and will not be invited to the functions for 'members only'.
Important: if you pay by our bank
account, please inform me of your payment because the bank statement
does not give the name of the person.
